Resonance 3 - Continuum

Helsinki Music Centre, Black Box 15.6.2018

This concert is the third in a series of five artistic doctoral concerts, which investigate intercultural dialogue and the formation of artistic identities in a transcultural context. Nathan Riki Thomson creates new music, instrumental techniques and sound manipulations, inspired by interaction with diverse cultures during more than 20 years spent travelling and living away from his homeland of Australia, including 5 years living in Africa.

Resonance 3: Continuumexplores the fundamental elements of rhythm, texture, movement and human connection, building on the concept of resonance as both a physical sensation and a metaphor for intercultural interaction, dialogue and collaboration.  A dialogue is created between musicians and dancers from different backgrounds, investigating themes of identity, diversity, human connection, borders, struggle, perseverance and the search for common ground, striving for a state where the performers are taken over by the music and movement itself.
